Samaritans Crewe are available all the time to everybody to provide emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of emotional distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.
We promote good emotional health; reach out to high risk groups and communities to reduce the risk of suicide; work in partnership with other organisations, agencies and experts to achieve our vision that fewer people die by suicide; influence public policy and raise awareness of the challenges of reducing suicide.
Samaritans Crewe are seeking to establish a local Friends Team to help with our fundraising work.
The scope is wide – join us for the odd hour to support a street or supermarket collection, up to creating fundraising opportunities or managing our complete income generation operation.
Samaritans is a strong brand, our events and collections are well supported by the community. For example a recent 7 hour collection at Tesco Crewe yielded £535. Through the day volunteers worked in pairs for 90 minutes; managed in this way it was a welcoming and rewarding experience, far from a slog.
Samaritans Crewe has no paid staff we are all volunteers. We need to raise about £20,000 a year to finance our work.
Please consider joining us as a Friend of Samaritans – as a part of a great local team you will be valued, trained and supported. Email, firstname.lastname@example.org
