Motorists are being advised to expect delays with lane closures on Crewe Green Roundabout taking place over the next few weeks.
Preparatory work has been taking place over the last couple of weeks and lanes closure will take place between Monday 24th April and Friday 5th May 2017.
Statement from Cheshire East Council:
“Contractors working on behalf of Cheshire East Council, will be carrying out site investigations in preparation for the re-shaping of the roundabout to minimise congestion in the future.
“This will be to obtain information required to develop the final design and verify the position of existing underground services.
“A formal planning application will be submitted in due course.
“Starting on April 10, traffic cones will be positioned as work takes place at the kerbside in advance of lane closures beginning on April 24 for about two weeks.
“The cones will be placed to protect the highways workforce.
“Motorists and commercial drivers using the roundabout should expect some delays until May 5 (excluding Bank Holidays.) Lane closures will be outside peak traffic hours (9.30 – 15.30.)
“The Crewe Green Roundabout improvement scheme is one of the most important highways improvement projects to be carried out by the council in Crewe and will minimise congestion at what has become a major traffic ‘pinch point.’
